It offers an extensive variety of fresh fish, shellfish and oysters with a sophisticated twist. The restaurant is not very large, it is intimate and with elegant setting with a good view of the bay. It is located near downtown San Diego by the bay with views of the San Diego bay, Coronado and Point Loma. It is the ideal location to dine when you are craving for fish and seafood.

I was in San Diego last holiday season and went to Top of the Market on a weekend. I was with a group and we were seated promptly as soon as we arrived. They started us with a basket of warm bread with a green sauce on the side. The sauce is a little bit sweet to my taste; it is a little bit savory and a little bit sweet but the flavors did not blend very well.

Ordered the ink linguini with sea scallops and prawns. The portion size is typical of high end restaurants which is not much or barely enough. It is made with almost black noodles, cherry tomatoes, mushroom, prawns, and scallops. The sauce is creamy with the scallop well prepared, seared on 2 sides with tender center. The dish is savory and the sauce is almost very rich.

The service is exceptional with the server very friendly and attentive. Top of the Market is one of those restaurants for special occasions.
