Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que is a small chain of restaurants offering Southern cuisine. It is based in Southern California and originated in Long Beach, California. Most of its restaurants are located in Southern California but also has branch in Arizona and Nevada.

The restaurant has more than a few selections of Southern inspired appetizers like southern fried okra, sweet potato fries and fried green tomatoes.  The main menu includes barbecued ribs, chicken, tri-tip, hot links, and pulled pork. Sandwiches are also available with fried and barbecued chicken breast.

Meals are accompanied with sides like biscuits, mashed potatoes with roasted garlic, baked potato, sweet potato fries, macaroni and cheese, braised beans, coleslaw (regular and honey roasted peanut), corn on the cob, potato salad, grits (of course) and slices of watermelon.

Their location at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga is the nearest which I went to for lunch. The inside décor is southern themed with bold and dark colors. I was seated immediately and I can say the service is really very good. It took only around 5 minutes for the appetizer to arrive after the server took our orders. We shared a platter of chips served with a dip of melted cheese with spinach. While the dip is savory and flavorful, in my opinion the chips has been sitting open for quite some time as it is almost soggy and not crunchy al all.

For the main course I had the BBQ chicken sandwich. The grilled chicken breast is savory and juicy, not the typical dry white chicken breast. The chicken is smothered with BBQ sauce which made it even more savory and juicy. It also had melted cheese, chopped lettuce and slices of onions. The bread looks like a ciabatta except that it is very soft but firm. The sandwich came with sweet potato fries which is the best; it is crunchy in the outside but soft in the inside. The fries is salty which blended very well with the sweetness of sweet potato.

Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ is highly recommended for the food and the friendly service of the staff. Except for the soggy chips, the meal is very good and worth going back to.
